Spring cleaning

I have held off on washing this window – those are Otis’ and Tess’ nose prints.  It was their favorite place to look out.  Gator, for some reason, never looks out this window.  But, it’s window washing time.  😔  Some things really do not need to be saved.

This, by the way, was one of the first days Otis started acting ‘normal’ after his amputation.  I was so happy to see him taking an interest in his normal doggie duties.

Otis, an 8 year old 106 lb. lab/Dane mix, became a Tripawd on February 9, 2016 after his right front leg broke due to osteosarcoma. We did 4 rounds of carboplatin, but lung mets were discovered on Agust 25, and he passed on September 4. Otis was half of a bonded pair, and his adopted sister Tess, passed suddenly of hemangiosarcoma on October 9. The day before Tess passed, a local lab rescue group had identfied Gator, a 120 pound 6 year old yellow in need of a home, as a potential companion for her. His picture was on my phone, and my house needed a dog. . .

  1. Nose prints and slobber in windows is the finest “stained glass design in the world! Spring cleaning is meant to go only so far! 🙂

Maybe you can print the picture of Otis looking out the window, frame it, nd hang it next to the window. Such a magnificent and handsome boy.

    Lots of love

  2. Oh I love this! Must you clean them? It’s a good photo anyway, whatever you decide, you’ve got that to keep. And ditto re printing the photo of Otis. I’m not sure I’ve seen that one. Lovely, and you can see how engaged he is with whatever is on the other side of the glass ❤️

  3. When my son and his family came to visit, he and my youngest grandson put their faces and hands all mushed up on the sliding glass door to make me laugh at their silly faces. It took me about a year and a half before I could wash that one piece of glass. I finally caved when the nose prints from the cats and Mitch got to be so much that you couldn’t see out the glass anymore. I don’t think it is silly at all. I even tried to capture it in a photo before I washed it but I never could get a good angle.

  4. The thought of cleaning nose prints for the last time is making me cry. Those photos are precious! Gotta love doggie nose art!

  5. Beautiful pic and beautiful post. Those nose prints are the best! can you take a piece of tape or plastic wrap or paper or something to pull the imprint? Your Otis reminds me so much of my Joe. Seriously – I have what I think is a younger version of your older man Otis… I hope you are doing well.
