Gator’s New Home

Resting on Enzo's dog bed, the only one he has used do far (and probably the least comfortable of the bunch, but also on of Tessie's favorites).

Otis, an 8 year old 106 lb. lab/Dane mix, became a Tripawd on February 9, 2016 after his right front leg broke due to osteosarcoma. We did 4 rounds of carboplatin, but lung mets were discovered on Agust 25, and he passed on September 4. Otis was half of a bonded pair, and his adopted sister Tess, passed suddenly of hemangiosarcoma on October 9. The day before Tess passed, a local lab rescue group had identfied Gator, a 120 pound 6 year old yellow in need of a home, as a potential companion for her. His picture was on my phone, and my house needed a dog. . .

  1. Awe! Hi Gator! You have joined an awesome family! Glad you can be there. Life isn’t the same without Otis and Tess but we still have plenty of love for you!

  2. Awesome Christine. Looks like he is adjusting well and getting a long with Enzo. He will bring smiles to you & your family

  3. I know I’m not the only one with goose bumps head to toe and a huge grin from ear to ear!! 🙂

Gator is soooo handsome!! I can’t wait to see what his DNA says! He has such a big smoochable head…very strong bone structure.

Probably the best part of this blog…he likes Enzo’s bed, which is the same on Tessie liked. Gator and Enzo seem to be good pals already. And, Gator seems to feel the most secure on your bed and relaxed enough to play with his toys there.

And the Rhinoceros lurking around out the window doesn’t scare him at all! Yeah, Gator seems to know this is his furever home!! 🙂

Thanks for the update! We all needed a reason to smile. Gator accomplished that for all of us! 🙂

    Lots of love!

    1. You took the words right out of my mouth! That’s exactly what I was going to say.

Love that Gator is already so much at home. Love that Enzo thinks he’s OK. And LOVE that the perfect pup found the perfect home.

  4. Love the pictures especially with Enzo watching him so closely. Looks like you’ve found a real “keeper” there Christine! I know it’s still so hard for you Christine, but hopefully Gator can help put some color back in your lives. Hugs!

  5. This really, truly brightens this day for me. Welcome home, dear Gator. You are going to love your family and your home.

  6. I absolutely LOVE all these photos … pure content. He looks like he’s been there for forever. I love the kitty photo too. Cautious but optimistic. And them sleeping … OMG … cuteness overload! We would NEVER have that in our home …. cat-free zone. Even a cat that thinks it is a dog! LOL

I know the pain is still there but look what your sweet angels sent you? A rescue that is learning his way and trusting you … the biggest gift ever!

    Much love!
