Otis and Tess – Our Photos!

Add an excerpt to your posts to provide a summary for readers in many blog themes!

Hi!   This is otisandtess (aka Christine).   I finally asked my 16 year old daughter to set up this blog and post some of our photos of Otis.   Took her 2 minutes – says something about the generation gap.  So anyway, we have a forum “New Tripawd – Otis” if you want to know more about us.   Otis is an 8 year old lab/Dane mix.   On February 7, 2016, he broke his right front forelimb when he went outdoors.  We took him to an emergency vet.  X-rays suggested osteosarcoma.  On February 9, the leg was amputated and he came home on February 11.  Staples out and first chemo on the 19th.

Tess, by the way, is his adopted sister.   She had cruciate repair over the summer, but is doing great and very attentive to him (just as he was to her during her surgery).

He took his first walk today – the excitement was overwhelming.   We only made it 6 houses, but he really didn’t want to turn around!  And you can see that he loves sleeping on the sofa.

Otis, an 8 year old 106 lb. lab/Dane mix, became a Tripawd on February 9, 2016 after his right front leg broke due to osteosarcoma. We did 4 rounds of carboplatin, but lung mets were discovered on Agust 25, and he passed on September 4. Otis was half of a bonded pair, and his adopted sister Tess, passed suddenly of hemangiosarcoma on October 9. The day before Tess passed, a local lab rescue group had identfied Gator, a 120 pound 6 year old yellow in need of a home, as a potential companion for her. His picture was on my phone, and my house needed a dog. . .

  1. Love, love lp2ve these pictures!!! Love, love, love Otis and Tess!!! Such a beautiful pair, a beautiful bond…and so well loved!!

The photos show that Otis is clearly feeling great after his surgery. I love the sleeping positions! He ks one comfortable dog!!

And Tess is recovering from knee surgery? Wow! You’ve really had your hands full!

As you already know, dogs are so resilient. They love in the moment and don’t worry about a thing. Statistics don’t mean a thing! Days on a calendar don’t mean a thing! All that matters is being with their humans soaking up all that loving and spoiling, and getting a few treats along the way! Bei g able to lay in the sun, stretch out on the sofa…doing it all pain free..pure doggy bliss!!

Stay in the moment. Savor each second. Take lots of pictures. Otis is clearly enjoying being Otis, and that’s what itsw all about!!

Keep these great updates and adorable photos coming!

Otis is having a spectacular recovery and living life to the fullest! And it even gets better!!

    Much love to all!!
