Otis, an 8 year old 106 lb. lab/Dane mix, became a Tripawd on February 9, 2016 after his right front leg broke due to osteosarcoma. We did 4 rounds of carboplatin, but lung mets were discovered on Agust 25, and he passed on September 4. Otis was half of a bonded pair, and his adopted sister Tess, passed suddenly of hemangiosarcoma on October 9. The day before Tess passed, a local lab rescue group had identfied Gator, a 120 pound 6 year old yellow in need of a home, as a potential companion for her. His picture was on my phone, and my house needed a dog. . . View all posts by otisandtess
He looks really happy in the 1st picture! You’ll have to take a video of him when you pick him up 🙂
Donna
Oh you’re pulling at my mommy heartstrings here. Must have been sooo hard to leave him. I’ll be waiting to hear how happy he was when you pick him up so will be waiting for the update from you. 😀
It looks like he’s doing great! Love the jingles. It’s funny what will make them feel more secure, isn’t it?

OMD! what a smile! Can’t wait to hear how happy he is at your return.
Isa confirms that yes the jingles are very, very important! She was always very wary when I’d take her collar off to, say, scrub the horse poop out of it. Instant relaxation when the jingles click back on.
looking forward to the further adventures of Enzo and Gator! Did you get the DNA results back? Did I miss the results?
DNA results are still pending. I did the Embark test, which does not only breed but also genetic diseases. It’s affiliated with Cornell University – they are building a doggy DNA database.
GAROR!!! Yiu can give THE most insightful looks into your Soul! Your expressive eyes speak volumes!!
Was that first picture as you were leaving? It’s like he’s trying to smile, but his eyes are saying, “Please don’t leave me.” Even if itsw after you’ve already left, his eyes are filled with uncertainty…but still trying to smile!
I keep scrolling back to look at these great photos of the “gentle giant”. He just melts my heart Christine, he really does.
And what a nose! Chipmunks are long gone but he knows they used ro be there, so he’s making sure it stays unoccupied!! Are you going to do any sce t work classes with him? I bet he’d really excel!
He and Enzo seem to be getting along just fine. That, in itself is quite amazing that they are this friendly with each other.
Can’t wait to hear how his day care adventure went!
Lots of love!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
Very sweet Christine. My sweet Ted also loves his jingly collar. It is a sign, I believe, that he is owned or part of the family. There is joy when we put it on him…Gator clearly knows that. He is adorable.

I bet he had so much fun. I know my girls do when they go to daycare.

He is just soooo gorgeous! This is a major milestone for both of you. Cheeseburgers and congratulations are the order of the day, I think. Very interesting re the jingles too. I’d never have thought of that.
I love his smile. 🙂 My dogs check me out when I leave the house (because I work from home) they think I am cheating on them lol.
I love this milestone it is great that he has adjusted and is bringing you his Gator toy 🙂

He must feel like the King of the Dog Pile right now, with all you’re doing to give him a fun life! Daycare must have been such a thrill, especially when you came back. Fun times!
Christine he has such a beautiful smile! You can see how happy he is. I just want to give him a big bear hug!
