Memories

I was going through old photos on my work IPad and came across these – still very bittersweet.

Otis, an 8 year old 106 lb. lab/Dane mix, became a Tripawd on February 9, 2016 after his right front leg broke due to osteosarcoma. We did 4 rounds of carboplatin, but lung mets were discovered on Agust 25, and he passed on September 4. Otis was half of a bonded pair, and his adopted sister Tess, passed suddenly of hemangiosarcoma on October 9. The day before Tess passed, a local lab rescue group had identfied Gator, a 120 pound 6 year old yellow in need of a home, as a potential companion for her. His picture was on my phone, and my house needed a dog. . .

  1. Awww Christine, tha ks for sharing these sacred treasured photos. Yes, bittersweet, but also smile makers.

The couch picture is priceless! Perfect head placement for smoo hes without disturbing the bloss of being soooo comfy 🙂

And seeing Otis and Tess together side by side…auch sweet memories.

Christine, it’s ALWAYS good to hear from you and seeing pictures from your family album. PLEASE know we think of you often….especially when we see THEIR banner pop up! You had waaaay too much unbearable grief all at once. I’m so glad Otis and Tess sent you aliGator to help put some joy and love back into your heart.

The contributions you and Otis (and Tess too) made here will always be invaluable. I always have a @ittle chuckle and think of Otis whenever a new member talks about their pup walking o e or two houses down during recovery. I often mention Otis had a special “love affair” with house five and made thst his lounging spot 🙂

Thanks again for sharing these special memories of two spectacularly adored dogs!

    Love and light

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

  2. Thank you – I agree it is nice to see photos of old friends – makes for smiles and tears simultaneously!
Always good to see you pop up, Christine! I think of you and Gator, fellow members of the Big Yellow Dog Rescue.

  4. Ha! HA!! Shudda’ known that was the famous “House 5”! He really did claim it as his very own piece of Paridise! 🙂

  5. Love, love, love these photos of Otis and Tess! Bittersweet, yes, but somehow the sweet eventually overrides the bitter.

We are always happy to hear the continuing adventures of that Big Yellow Gator, too.

Kathi and the Turbotail April Angel…and the (not so dorky anymore) Labradork

  6. It’s always so nice (and bittersweet for sure) when you find those old photos and videos. Maybe it’s exactly what Otis and Tess knew you needed in your heart at that very moment. Whatever it was, these sure made us smile.
