One happy dog. . .

As many of you know, I signed Gator’s adoption papers on Saturday.   I know that he doesn’t know what’s in the papers any more than Otis knew what was in the x-rays, but I still think he is happy!   He is settling in and getting more comfortable every day, and is the best trained dog I have ever owned.   I still miss Otis and Tess every day, but he is a big sweetie who brings a smile to my face.

Otis, an 8 year old 106 lb. lab/Dane mix, became a Tripawd on February 9, 2016 after his right front leg broke due to osteosarcoma. We did 4 rounds of carboplatin, but lung mets were discovered on Agust 25, and he passed on September 4. Otis was half of a bonded pair, and his adopted sister Tess, passed suddenly of hemangiosarcoma on October 9. The day before Tess passed, a local lab rescue group had identfied Gator, a 120 pound 6 year old yellow in need of a home, as a potential companion for her. His picture was on my phone, and my house needed a dog. . .

  1. Warms my heart that this wonderful dog in need found you and you found him. Happy that he is happy and bringing some light into your life.

  2. Just takes a little time to adjust to all the new around him. Just like it will take a little time to adjust to his quirks. I am glad you both are happy. It doesn’t mean you won’t miss Otis & Tess because you will. That will never go away. The hurt lessens but Gator will help mend that heart and bring smiles back to your life. I am not saying that you won’t remember or a piece won’t be missing but it will help mend it.

  3. Love ❤️❤️❤️ to you Gator! You make your mama smile and her heart is full. Well done on both ends. Gator needed you and you needed Gator.

  4. And Gator sure KNOWS what love and security feel like now!!! And he KNOWS that wonderful quilt Kathi created was made just for him!! Look how food he looks surrounded by “his” colors!!

Gator is helping you put some joy back into your life…just as you have done for Gator. And that makes Otis and Tess so very happy! And that makes us all sooooo happy for you voth!!

    Lots of love!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

  5. He looks like he won the lottery! And he sure did when he found you…well done Otis and Tess. The old memories won’t ever go away, but now you can make new ones to join them.

  6. I love this photo!!! Otis and Tess definitely knew what they were doing in sending him to you. He definitely looks like he has made himself comfy and at home.

Jasper was also better trained that Shelby ever was (yet still makes bad choices from time to time but nothing like what Shelby did). I think our angels pick out pooches that are better to give us a little breather!

  7. Oh happy dog! I’m so glad you found each other! I thought of you last night at Pet Co as I walked past I stuffed gator. Probably will every time I see one!
    Good job Otis and Tess!
