Otis, an 8 year old 106 lb. lab/Dane mix, became a Tripawd on February 9, 2016 after his right front leg broke due to osteosarcoma. We did 4 rounds of carboplatin, but lung mets were discovered on Agust 25, and he passed on September 4. Otis was half of a bonded pair, and his adopted sister Tess, passed suddenly of hemangiosarcoma on October 9. The day before Tess passed, a local lab rescue group had identfied Gator, a 120 pound 6 year old yellow in need of a home, as a potential companion for her. His picture was on my phone, and my house needed a dog. . .

  1. Thaaaat look!! Melting my heart over here!

    Exudes sweetness!!

Maybe reading too much into it, but he almost seems a little uncertain, maybe a little pensive. I mean, he was given away by his original owners, probably wondering when they would come back and get him. Now he may feel like he’s being “given away” again from his foster home. Okay…reading too much into it!!

What WE all know that he may not is, he’s going to THE BEST FUREVER HOME EVVVVVER!!
Soooooo excited for this sweet boy!

And he really, really is stunningly handsome!!!

Cannot wait to follow this boy’s happy life with you!!

  2. I keep scrolling back up to look at that handsome ge tle mug! He also has a very wise “knowing” look! I think this young man has a lot of wisdom to share! Soomehow he knows…he knows…he is about to be with the human he was born to be with!!

Okay, I’ll stop posting now…it’s just that I’m so excited for you!!

  3. I saw the same thing as Sally in his soulful eyes!!! Those eyes say everything but he is about to live his best possible life!!! I cannot wait to hear about the homecoming! He’s one handsome fella for sure!

    XOXO

  4. So I am standing in the middle of a busy London train station, surrounded by Friday night commuters, just saw this and now I have tears welling in my eyes.
He does look apprehensive. He doesn’t know the love-filled future just ahead of him. But we do. This is such a moving picture.

  5. I definitely agree. He looks as if he’s saying, “What now?” It will take him a bit of time, but he won’t be ever saying that again. You do have an advantage of knowing what his name is. It would be so much harder on him if he had to be called by a name that was unfamiliar. The cheeseburger recommended by Sally will sure go a long way toward making him feel wanted.

Can’t wait for more pictures of the happy homecoming.

  6. Oh Christine Gator is truly one handsome boy! I truly envy you that you’ll be the one that can take that look of trepidation in his eyes and hopefully be able to replace it with the “yup I’m home now for forever” look. Little does he know what a perfect home he’s going to. Praying here that he and the cats can bond fast and furious. Anxiously awaiting homecoming pictures!

  7. He looks uncertain now, but I bet he’ll be smiling before too long! He’s beautiful, and you are lucky to have each other!

  8. Yes, he may look a little pensive, but who wouldn’t. There is a gentleness there and it shines through. He is sooo very handsome. And he will soon unpack his bags and be so happy in your home.

  9. He looks like mysweetted – without the pink nose! he will be pensive but that is to be expected. Give him time, he will be so happy to be with you and you will definitely let him know that he IS in his forever home. What an amazing thing you are doing Christine. oh, and I loved the alligator toy…;)

  10. Just had to say…since I heard his name, I can’t get the Phil Collins song “I Can’t Dance” out of my head:

“Gator’s getting close, hasn’t got me yet”

  11. Oh Gator! What a handsome devil, I can’t wait for more pics. Happy ones once he’s settled in his new furever home!! Xoxox
