An open note to my furry family,

The human needs sleep.  In the future, unless there is actually something wrong, please refrain from lip licking, flopping around restlessly, whining, chasing or growling/hissing at other members of the furry family, cleaning any part of your anatomy in the room where I am sleeping, asking to go outside an hour after your sibling went (when you did not go), walking around on my bed, trying to sleep on my pillow or face, belching, sleeping right in the middle of the bed fully extended, jumping on the bed smelling of litter box, or begging for breakfast before 4:30 am.   Seriously, this reminds me of having a new baby!

Otis, an 8 year old 106 lb. lab/Dane mix, became a Tripawd on February 9, 2016 after his right front leg broke due to osteosarcoma. We did 4 rounds of carboplatin, but lung mets were discovered on Agust 25, and he passed on September 4. Otis was half of a bonded pair, and his adopted sister Tess, passed suddenly of hemangiosarcoma on October 9. The day before Tess passed, a local lab rescue group had identfied Gator, a 120 pound 6 year old yellow in need of a home, as a potential companion for her. His picture was on my phone, and my house needed a dog. . .

  1. Ha! Good luck with that Christine!
Our calico Daisy does not like attention most of the time. However, she does like to meow at 2:30am or 4am on the bed just to be pet. ugh!

  2. I should also add that no one in this furry family should for an instant think that they are going to get a nap today. I will hunt you down and vacuum in the room in which you are trying to sleep.

  3. Ih Otis! You are somethin ‘ else!

And ya’ know what? Even though your mom “appears” to be…er…irritated, she’s loving every second of seeing you get back to Otis being Otis!!
    And so are we!

Good fun update! Keep ’em coming!

    Hugs!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

  4. Love your sense of humor! I’m sure they’re listening to you to. NOT! Can’t fool us we know you’ll do it all again tomorrow night with a smile on your face.
